Long Weekend

hm, i haven't updated this,
but to finish my last post, the rest of my spring break was a lot of badminton, and a trip to sd (little cousin's bday, ucsd)
friday:
alright so friday we drove up to visit uc berkeley for Cal Day. the six hours going up there were kind of boring and was really a waste of a day. we stopped by at some small town to fill up gas and eat dinner at a taco bell, and wow, it was different. apparently in that town gas has two different prices ($2.27/gallon, but underneath it in VERY small print it says "cash", so if you use a credit card they charge you $2.42/gallon). i'm not even sure if the taco bell there was a taco bell either (grilled stuffed burrito was shaped like a quesadilla and was double its regular price too, and my nachos were $1 more than the SOCAL advertised $.89. I guess its a rip-off town.

saturday
despite the erratic weather, san francisco, is overall, a nice city, but berkeley is not (my opinion); i just didn't like the atmosphere there. it's pretty funny how in uc berkeley, safety, is HEAVILY emphasized. some things i learned about berkeley during cal day.
1) There are 3 levels of security to get into your dorm: swipe your id to get in your dorm, make it past the security booth thing, swipe your id to get into the elevator.
2) There are telephone posts spread across the campus with a red emergency button, and once you press it, UCPD will show up within 90 seconds.
3) You can request some police guy to walk with you, which is advised.
4) Bearwalk, you can request another person walk with you, which is advised.
5) General rule: "Never walk alone, even if you're a guy."
yeah, i learned a lot about safety in berkeley, it kind of gives me the feeling that berkeley is not the safest place in the world. oh, and the unit reshalls are off-campus too.
berkeley overall is alright, and will undoubtedly give you a great education, if you don't mind ugly buildings, cold, hilly hills, and hobos (a lot of them are nice though).

afterwards we went to chinatown, and decided to eat dinner in a restaurant in the middle of china town. the food was subpar, and was overpriced. to sum up the experience, here's also what i learned: YOU KNOW CHINESE FOOD IS CRAP WHEN THERE AREN'T ANY CHINESE/ASIAN PEOPLE IN THE RESTAURANT WHEN THE RESTAURANT IS IN THE MIDDLE OF CHINATOWN. we were like the only asians in there, other than the waitresses. the chopsticks also said this:

oh, this ended up to be quite long, so i'll end it here.

Spring Break

This year's spring break has been extremely fun so far! Let's see,

friday:
eat at buffalowildwings (AWESOMEWINGS), chill at the junus pad while playing some basketball (i tried to dunk, but i failed) and watched a little jamesbond and office, eat at peking deli (i almost died because #20 noodles on the menu is the spiciest thing on this planet), and watch haunting in conneticuit (i almost died again because of a heart attack, very freaky movie)
saturday:
go to ucla open house! it was pleasant; i like the campus a lot. it has a traditional eastern campus feel to it, very red and clean, and very appealing to the eyes, unlike the bland buildings in some university in irvine.
sunday:
went to VOH, then we went to go eat at phoenix(the one in Yes! plaza) initially. We made the waitress reserve a spot for nine people, and combine tables to that nine of us could sit, but what do we do? Before she takes our orders, all of us get up and leave because we decide we want to eat somewhere else. We actually ran out of there. That waitress hates us.
we went to puente after, and ethan and andge got their ears pierced.
monday:
went to badminton practice in the morning til like 12, ate chic-fil-a(how do you spell that restaurant anyways?) w/ brandon and josh, chilled at brandons house (we played a lot of egyption war!), then went to the beach with justin, desiree, audris, jack, lexie, albert, gavin, sabrina, matt, matt, tesia, evangeline, and albert. it was fun, other than having smores without graham crackers or chocolate or a skewer. yeah we played a lot of ninja and tried to make a bonfire (which we did!)
yeah and i was supposed to go to a keyclub dance/social thing at like 6pm but i ended up stopping by at like 9 after coming from the beach, oh well i'm a senior. when i came, everyone was on the dancefloor freaking. i thought this was keyclub. i thought keyclub was full of nerds, they way they were dancing was VERY unexpected.
yeah and we stopped by sabrinas house for a while afterwards theyre watching slumdog millionaire

that about sums up my last 4 days. hm lets see... some other random things i've thought about as well:
-slumdog millionaire is out on DVD, but puente hills AMC is still showing it
-the guy on a 20$ bill is NOT benjamin franklin
-flo rida raps in triplets or quads or whatever like duh duh duh DUH duh duh duh DUH
-i never knew keyclubbers freaked
-wings with the two bones with the meat in between the two bones are hard to eat.
-ninja is a fun game
-footballs are hard, very hard. why are they shaped the way they are?
-i wish i could tell if an orange is sweet or sour before peeling and eating it
-you can buy the same jumbo puffed marshmallows($2.99) from albertsons in 99c store for 50cents.

sorry this post was basically like a diary, hopefully that won't happen next time.

10-27-08

So about 2 months have past this year. Time sure goes by quickly. Senior year is by far the easiest year I have ever had (if you don't count college apps, SAT, ACT), and even though I thought it would be hard, it's pretty awesome indeed.
1st period - AP Rhet with Mr Moran is probably one of the easiest AP classes, haha. It's sooooo much easier compared to eng3h with chacon. He barely gives us any homework (probably one assignment a week on average). What's really cool is that he gives the top 1/3 of the class A's (not sure what the other 2/3 of the class gets lol), so for the last 6 week grading period, if you had a 83% in his class or higher it would be an A. Too bad my grade was an 82.5%, lol.
2nd period - AP Psych with Mrs Hewit (i think its one t) - I could've sworn Mrs Hewitt was so much meaner two years ago when I had her for AP Stats. Oh well, this class is easy too, we've only had one real homework assignment so far >_>.
3rd period - APES with Ms Jensvold - Ms. Jensvold may be a bad teacher, but this class is hilarious! She tells us a lot of funny stories, shows us funny videos(some people don't think they're not funny, but don't pretend it's not!), and a lot of people in that class are hilarious also. Last week, the whole class was arguing with her about whether or not she's racist hahaha.
and uh sorry to everyone for setting the curves, but at least I didn't do it this time! (I got a threat today)

4th period - Photography with Mr. Gabel (not anymore) - Apparently the school district is trying to get Gabel fired, and we've had subs on and off for the past few weeks, but I think our current sub (Mr Williams, I think that's his name, he looks a lot like kobe) is going to be our new permanent photo teacher. Hehas assigned us a project (something Gabel would not do), re-arranged the whole room (the layout is like this: |_|, intsead of |||||, similar to mme Lahham's class) and everything(new mac computers also), so I guess he'll be here for a while lol. He seems cool, but he's pretty strict. He yelled at me when he caught me on photobooth LOL.
Did I mention that he looks like Kobe? Seriously, he's probably his long-seperated twin or something. I'll try to get a picture of him and you'll see haha! (he caught us taking pictures of him with photobooth today LOl), but maybe I can upload the pictures we took with photobooth.

Sorry for digressing.

5th Period - Civics with Mr. Murphy - Align CenterI can't believe this is the third year I have Murphy (world history sophomore year, psychology junior year, and civics now). He's a great teacher and all, but his participation system is ridiculous. Basically you just have to raise your hand every chance you get, and hope you have the most points out of everyone lol. If that wasn't bad enough, it's worth 25% of our grade. So I had a 97% in that class cause I pretty much ace everything he gives, but it dropped to 81% because I only had 8 points out of 15). However, I can't complain since he gave us extra credit that rasied our points, so I'm back to a 97% :)

Yup, that about sums up this year's classes. Despite having 3 AP classes, the only real homework I get is from APES, which is due every friday, so technically I have homework on thursdays.

Yet, I still procrastinate.
I should be doing an SAT practice test now (which I should've started four hours ago).
2400! (hopefully), but a 2150+ will do :)
